Okyeame Kwame hits back at Paedae, calls his act “unfortunate”

Despite a recent declaration by the National
welfare chairman of the Musicians Union of
Ghana that the association does not recognize
Paedae and the music group R2Bees since they
are not card bearing members of the union and
do not pay dues as such had no locus to
comment on the administration of the union and
its dealings.
(We Don’t Know Paedae or R2Bees – MUSIGA
Replies Paedae’s Twitter Rants), Ghana’s rap
doctor and Public Relations Officer of the same
union, Okyeame Kwame has disclosed the BET
award nominee could have better channeled his
grievances than to go on a twitter rant.
Speaking to NY DJ on the Entertainment
Unplugged Show on Kapital Radio in Kumasi,
Okyeame Kwame stated it was quite unfortunate
to have seen a musician go on a rant on social
media when he could have simply registered the
same complaints at the MUSIGA office.
“It is really bad when musicians take to such
medium to register their displeasure when the
right steps have been put in place to report any ill
feeling. The best an artist with problems can do is
to file a complaint at the MUSIGA office where he
would later be called for deliberations and perfect
solutions would be arrived at.
You don’t just go public with your problems. I
don’t think members of the Ghana Bar
Association or the Ghana Medical Practitioners
Association would individually go public with their
grievances until the unions collectively decide to
do so or until members believe the union body is
not functioning enough”
Asked if Paedae or R2Bees as a music group had
registered as members of MUSIGA, the PRO
disclosed it would be a lie to confirm or deny as
he could not make out all members of the union.
Addressing royalty issues raised by Paedae in his
twitter rant, Okyeame Kwame disclosed MUSIGA
was not responsible for collecting royalties for
musicians although the president of the union
served as a member of the body responsible for
it. He therefore advised fellow musicians to
research before accusing bodies wrongly.
