20 Years cannot be thrown away like that; VIP door was shut in my face - Promzy

One time Vision In Progress (VIP) member Promzy real name Emmanuel Ababio has disclosed that he did not leave the VIP group willingly but was rather pushed out by the other members to make room for Reggie Rockstone, hiplife icon and CEO of Rockstone’s  office.

Promzy intimated that there was unity in the group and plans were afoot for new releases and tours only to be told to bow out as Reggie Rockstone was knocking on the door and making an entry to elevate the group with his networks.

The hyper rapper asserted that if he resigned of his own accord why is there no record of his resignation letter as the group was well established and run as a business entity.

When news of the split emerged, several media accounts purported that the tattooed rapper had taken the decision to spend more time with his family as well as raise his kid but Mr. Ababio noted that one does not throw away 20 years of hard work like that stressing the trio involving himself, Joseph Nana Ofori-Prodigal and Abdul Hamid Ibrahim-Zeal had toiled to make the VIP brand an international one only for the 'goodness' door to be shut in his face because someone wanted to resurrect his ailing career.

VIP is now VVIP since the addition of Reggie Rockstone. The question is if VIP stood for Vision In Progress, what does VVIP stand for?

Zohzoh Band will on Friday, July 18 rock the
Alliance Française in Accra with a concert dubbed
‘Kundum Highlife Meets Afrobeat’.
Noted for a brand of highlife known as ‘Kundum
Highlife’, Abiza Band has in recent years
mesmerised fans in several towns and cities in
Denmark with magnetic performances.
Formed in 2005, Abiza Band has carved a niche
for itself through authentic Ghanaian highlife,
which is the result of a subtle expropriation of the
elements of traditional rhythms from the Western
Region, which has been described by critics as
‘Kundum Highlife’.
Led by Yaw Boateng, Zohzoh Band is expected to
thrill the audience with a cool blend of highlife
and Afrobeat alongside influences from late Fela
Kuti, Miles Davies, Peter Tosh, James Brown and
ET Mensah.
On Saturday, July 19, the Alliance Française would
equally go gay with another performance by
rapper and singer EL.
This young and talented music icon is a multi-
talented artiste with a multi-national fan base
from Ghana and beyond.
He is working tirelessly to promote and improve
the quality of Ghanaian music on the

E.L grabs the microphone on stage; music fans
see him as a real music icon whose presence
would boost the image of Ghanaian music on the
international music market.
He is expected to surprise the audience with a
blend of different varieties of music inspired from
various sources.
E.L has appeared on many musical concerts held
in the country and performed with music stars
like Sarkodie, J. Martins, 9ice, Fabulous and Rick
Ross.
Arguably one of the biggest producers cum
rappers, he has lent his blend of hip-hop/afro
beat sounds and voice to major hits for the likes
of Sarkodie’s ‘You Go Kill Me’, ‘Dangerous’, D-
Black’s ‘Get On The Dance Floor’, Reggie
Rockstone’s ‘Rockstone’s Office’, Asem’s ‘Check
Your Weight’ and many more.

I have not disrespected Muslims – Herty Borngreat

Ghanaian Gospel musician Herty Borngreat’s approach of getting her fans active and interactive with her regular “type Amen” posts is not new someone like me and you might have come across similar posts of hers if you spend more time on Facebook.

This approach which normally asks you to “type Amen” on posts just to avert curses or avoid any bad happening has been very helpful as her page is always active however, one of such posts has incurred the wrath of many in the Islamic faith as a recent post that had Prophet Mohammed bow to Jesus Christ with the inscription “every knee shall bow” has caused a lot of uproar among both Islamic community in Ghana.
Hertyborngreatbabe
After publications of her disrespecting Muslims broke last week and went viral, the artist has expressed dissatisfaction at the news and blamed journalists for not contacting her for the reality of the situation.

In an interview with News One, the management of the artist disclosed the picture was a Photoshop image embossed on a snapshot of her Facebook page to make it seem as if she was the one who published it.

“It is a very dangerous lie people are spreading about me. An evil lie that can spark a religious dispute and religious hatred and I want to use your medium to urge all well-meaning people in the media to help me to tell the world it is not true. That photo did not come from me or my camp. We have never uploaded or published such a photo and I suspect it is a Photoshop some people with a bad motive have designed to cause hatred for me.

“I believe in peaceful religious tolerance and co-existence because our belief in one God should unite us rather than divide us. Some call Him Allah, some call Him Adonai, some call Him Jehovah but God is one and that is what should unite us. I know the calamity religious disputes have brought to other countries. We don’t want that to happen in Ghana,” Herty told NEWS-ONE on Sunday.

She continued: “My attention was drawn to that report on Sunday morning and when I searched it on Google, I was shocked that people would write such a thing about me without even cross-checking from me. Why would I put out a photo that is offensive to the sentiments of Muslims? I have a very good relationship with the Islamic community.

At the last Salafest at Nima, I was there to perform for my Muslim family and I hope to be there this year because I have a lot of respect for Muslims and a huge fan base from the Islamic Community. I would not insult Muslims, I have not insulted Muslims and I feel disappointed by the false report.

“I call on all persons who have seen that report to disregard it. It is not from me and we are investigating to get to the bottom of it. Today, I am the victim, tomorrow it may be someone else and if we do not unite to speak out against such things, we do not know what it may lead to in future. Religious disputes and conflicts and discrimination are things we must all guard against.”

The comments from the management somehow seem interesting to me as the account that posted that picture is an account of hers unless we are meant to believe the usual concert party thoughts of “The account was hacked” or “The account does not belong to us”, which I would be very shocked.

I believe it is time, our people suffered the repercussions of their actions and stopped their easy of massaging issues.

Juliet Ibrahim reveals she admires Iyanya

Iyanya, Nigeria’s fast-rising music artiste, to some people, is not in the good books of Ghanaian actresses, who probably must have felt bad with the way he allegedly treated one of their ‘sisters’, Yvonne Nelson, who he reportedly dated and dumped later.

At the Ghana Music Awards held some weeks ago in Accra, it was reported that Yvonne Okoro initially snubbed the Nigerian singer, after he made efforts to drag her to the stage to dance with him.

As then reported, Iyanya, while performing at the event, called on his alleged former lover’s namesake to come on stage with him to probably ‘shake’ her waist, but she declined. It was said that Iyanya was later forced to meet with Yvonne Okoro on seat, called on her severally until the lady was embarrassed and forced herself to heed to the call.

However, while some Ghanaians may not like Iyanya for what he ‘did’ to Yvonne Nelson, by only interested in Yvonne Nelson’s ‘waist’, Juliet Ibrahim sees Iyanya as an admirable and talented act.

According to Juliet, while speaking in an interview on AY Show, confessed that Iyanya is one of the Nigerian artistes she admires, just like Flavour, another Nigerian music star.

Juliet stated that she likes Iyanya mostly in his R&B form, describing him as a good and talented singer.http://cdn.ghanaweb.com/GHP/img/pics/41469876.295.jpg

Yvonne Okoro: I am not broke!

No nonsense actress Yvonne Okoro has vented her spleen at those involved in the brouhaha over her recent ‘repeated dress,' saying, “I will repeat my dress.”

Yvonne, last week, repeated a yellow Karen Millen modern tribal dress she wore in August 2012 at Showbiz Honours on a movie set in Nigeria.

Subsequent media reports claimed that the actress decided to repeat the dress because “she is broke.”

But the beautiful award-winning actress described the claims as “unintelligent and childish.”

She said she found it difficult to comprehend how “any learned person” would think that repeating a dress determined one’s bank account.

“I will repeat my dress anytime I want to. I don’t owe anybody any explanation. Billionaires and millionaires all over the world can repeat dresses and its fine, but we can’t. Who is arresting me for doing so? The inspector dress or the FBI of clothes?” Yvonne Okoro made a fun of her critics when NEWS-ONE contacted her yesterday.

Earlier, she took to instagram to react to the claims, advising young girls, “…if it looks that good let no one tell you, you can’t wear more than once. Bring back our girls to reality.”

She also denied claims about how she acquired her Mercedes Benz

Big Brother Africa Season 9 auditions announced for Ghana

The ninth edition of Africa’s biggest reality series BIG BROTHER AFRICA kicks off in September and already fans are asking…who will the new housemates be? Who will find their names and their faces gracing newspapers? Who will become the subject of drive time radio and just who will find themselves trending on all social media platforms?

Unlike previous years, this year’s entry process is slightly different as potential housemates are invited to come in their numbers for auditions in their respective country venues. Auditions will take place at Ghana – Accra (Holiday Inn Hotel Airport) on 5 and 6 July 2014

AfricaMagic has always been associated with unearthing, nurturing and recognizing talent from around the continent; and Big Brother Africa is one of the shows that have become known for transforming ordinary citizens into stars.

“We are very grateful and remain pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming response that the show has been receiving over the years. We look forward to the selection of our potential housemates coming in large numbers to auditions at the specified venues and take that chance at being the next Big Brother star,” says M-Net Africa Regional Director (West Africa) Wangi Wa-Uzoukwu.

“The fact that the fans truly adore the show is all the motivation we need to keep it fresh and that is always made possible by the enthusiastic and fun-loving young Africans who will answer to Big Brother. We are rearing to go and we know that this will definitely be another exciting season that is full of quality entertainment!” she adds.

Her sentiments are echoed by Endemol MD Sivan Pillay who says, “We have been producing this series for M-Net for a number of seasons now and as partners, together we have seen this show grow to the phenomenon that it has become. We hope the season will be even better as we strive to improve on our offering season after season. We will not hold back on the quality and exciting unpredictability that has become synonymous with Big Brother Africa. Audiences and fans can expect yet another high quality production and of course, another group of fun-loving housemates who will keep you guessing on who will be left standing come day 91.”

MultiChoice Africa CEO Nico Meyer says: “As MultiChoice Africa we are always pleased to welcome each new season of Big Brother Africa onto our platforms and we applaud its amazing success and ability to bring together audiences from all across the continent. The inclusion of Rwanda in this season is even more exciting as this displays that our reach and growth into the various sub-Saharan markets is going from strength to strength. We look forward to seeing further growth as well as the impressive social media presence that the show enjoys.”

All persons over the age of 21, who are citizens of one of the participating countries and have a valid passport, can enter Big Brother Africa 9. If you are open-minded, bold and adventurous, that’s even better! Previous editions of Big Brother Africa have boasted huge cash prizes for winners and this it is no different as the prize money is USD 300 000.

Remember, entries are open to the following 14 countries: Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

BIG BROTHER AFRICA 8 will be screened live 24/7 on DStv channels 197 and 198 while GOtv audiences will see highlights of the show, which begins on Sunday 7 September and is scheduled to run for 91 days. Big Brother Africa is produced by ENDEMOL SA.

Tupac's final words revealed by police officer on scene of murder

The first police officer at the scene of Tupac Shakur's 1996 drive-by murder has revealed the last words spoken by the late rap legend. And they're not exactly peaceful.

"He looked at me, and he took a breath to get the words out, and he opened his mouth," says Chris Carroll, a retired sergeant with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, in a new feature with Vegas Seven. "And then the words came out: 'F**k you.'"

Shakur was shot multiple times on September 7th, 1996. After leaving a boxing match with former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight, the rapper and his bodyguards got into a scuffle with 21-year-old Crips gang member Orlando Anderson in the lobby of the MGM Grand casino. Carroll, who worked with the city's bike patrol unit, had also been watching the same Mike Tyson fight, but was unaware of the brawl taking place in the lobby.

Later, a white Cadillac pulled up beside Knight and Shakur while they were stopped at a traffic light and one man began shooting out of the back window. Carroll was the first officer to respond to the grisly scene.

"I grab the car door and I'm trying to open it, but I can't get it open," he says. "[Knight] keeps coming up on my back, so I'm pointing my gun at him. I'm pointing it at the car. I'm yelling, 'You guys lay down! And you, get the f**k away from me!' And every time I'd point the gun at him, he'd back off and even lift his hands up, like 'All right! All right!' So I'd go back to the car, and here he comes again. I'm like, 'F**ker, back off!' This guy is huge, and the whole time he's running around at the scene, he's gushing blood from his head. Gushing blood! I mean the guy had clearly been hit in the head, but he had all his faculties. I couldn't believe he was running around and doing what he was doing, yelling back and forth."

Carroll says when he finally was able to open the door, Shakur's limp body fell out of the vehicle, "like he was leaning against the door."

"So I grabbed him with my left arm, and he falls into me, and I've still got my gun in the other hand," he continues. "He's covered with blood, and I immediately notice that the guy's got a ton of gold on -- a necklace and other jewelry -- and all of the gold is covered in blood. That has always left an image in my mind. . . After I pulled him out, Suge starts yelling at him, 'Pac! Pac!' And he just keeps yelling it. And the guy I'm holding is trying to yell back at him. He's sitting up and he's struggling to get the words out, but he can't really do it. And as Suge is yelling 'Pac!,' I look down and I realize that this is Tupac Shakur."

Carroll says he attempted to get a "dying declaration" of a potential suspect from Shakur, but the rapper was ignoring him at first.

"And then I saw in his face, in his movements, all of a sudden in the snap of a finger, he changed," he says. "And he went from struggling to speak, being noncooperative, to an 'I'm at peace' type of thing. Just like that. . . He went from fighting to 'I can't do it.' And when he made that transition, he looked at me, and he's looking right in my eyes. And that's when I looked at him and said one more time, 'Who shot you?'. . . He looked at me and he took a breath to get the words out, and he opened his mouth, and I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation. And then the words came out: 'F**k you.' After that, he started gurgling and slipping out of consciousness."

So why is Carroll coming forward with with information in 2014? Two reasons: Retiring from the Metro has allowed him the freedom to speak about the homicide case without being reprimanded ("It's been almost 18 years," he says. There's clearly never going to be a court case on this."), and he also didn't want "Tupac to be a martyr or a hero because he told the cops 'F**k you.'"

Carroll says Shakur never spoke another word -- remaining silent even when another officer tried to draw out a declaration in the ambulance.

"As soon as he got to the hospital, he went into surgery and was heavily sedated, and I guess he went into a coma and really never came out of that, until they took him off of life support," he continues. "So that moment I talked to him was his last real living moment where he was speaking. I talked to the cop who rode in the ambulance with him. He said Tupac never came out of it, and he never said anything at the hospital. There was nothing else."

Muntari receives new car in camp

Sulley Muntari is in the news again for off-the-pitch reasons.

The Black Stars and AC Milan midfielder apparently had his new camouflaged Lamborghini driven from Italy to the Black Stars camp in Holland.

Check out this beast of a car, as Rashid Sumailia couldn't resist taking a picture with it.

Ghana takes on Holland in a friendly match on Saturday, and we're hoping Sulley's new ride will inspire him to deliver against Oranje.

Dj Black replies to Lil Win: I did not cut off anyone’s mic

DJ Black has reacted to suggestions he cut Lil Win’s performance short at last weekend’s Ghana Meets Naija concert.

In a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon, the well-known disc jockey played down any ill motive, insisting he had nothing whatsoever to do with the Kumawood actor’s abrupt exit from the stage on Saturday.

“Just to clarify this false accusations. I did not cut off anyone’s mic on #GhanameetsNaija . All sounds were cut off by the Sound Controller,” he posted.

Black’s clarification comes in the wake of incessant bashing with the way and manner the young actor’s act was rudely interrupted with repeated sounding-off bytes.

In what was thought to be a promotion of the drug substance, Marijuana on stage, Lil Win saw his performance cut short.

MTN, the headline sponsors of the event shortly after the incident, issued a disclaimer, disassociating themselves from the act.

Lil Win has since explained his act was misunderstood, and that if he had been allowed to finish entirely, he would have condemned the use of hard drugs, Marijuana included.Djblack

Ghana music reigned at Ghana meets Naija concert in Accra

The fourth edition of the Ghana Meets Naija
concert was held at the Accra International
Conference centre with over 10 artistes gracing
the stage from Nigeria and Ghana.
Tickets were sold out days before the concert
explaining the huge attendance at the auditorium
which seats 1600 people, yet teeming fans had to
be part of the experience from the aisles due to
inadequate seats.
The amalgamation of popular music from the two
familial nations with so much rivalry opened by
Mz Vee and AK Songstress with a splendid
dancehall performance reassuring the industry of
a bright future for the music genre especially with
the involvement of women.
The stage was illuminating with beautiful designs
notably a replica of Ghana’s Independence Arch
with the black star on top.
Double, gave a short performance which ushered
in DJ Black, the headline DJ for the night as Nii Ayi
Tagoe held the fort at the forecourt of the
auditorium concurrently.
The MC for the night, actor Chris Attoh, in the
midst of beautiful ladies took charge while
dispelling a connotation of competition between
the two countries emphasizing the objective of the
concert which is for the love of music.
Guru took the stage with a rousing applause and
sing-along as he introduced Lil Win who was
ushered onto the stage by macho men while
performing his part of their popular Azonto Boys
song. They rocked the night especially Lil Win who
couldn’t help it but dance his heart out.
Selebobo from Nigeria opened for the Nigerian
acts with his track, Yoyo, getting the crowd off
their seats. He finally sang a piece of his new
song Selfie which should gain the attention of
VVIP.
Wizboyy got the Wizolingo going as the party
mood was set. DJ Spin from Nigeria and DJ Solo
from Ghana locked horns on the turntables as the
crowd got a taste of both nations.
The mood was charged when Edem surprisingly
joined the bill and performed his new song Koene
after Castro had taken over the stage with his
songs from the past to present.
The ‘Limpopo’ man, Kcee took his turn creating a
rapport with the audience gaining a positive
response. He worked the crowd to a dance
marathon including a short dance competition he
organised on stage rewarding the winner $200 in
between his performance.
Then came the arguably best rapper in Ghana,
Sarkodie who literally added heat to the already
warm auditorium as the audience got ecstatic. A
lady fan jumped onto the stage, as he performed
with Castro, just to touch his feet to which he
gave her a hug that almost got her collapsed to
the ground in emotions. Sarkodie got emotional
but wiped his face and the music continued.
The excitement was so intense during Sarkodie’s
performance that it got Bola Ray, CEO of
organisers, Empire Entertainment, to shower him
and his DJ with money during his performance as
a display of appreciation.
The concert got to another level of hyper when
Sarkodie performed Adonai with Castro.
Symbolically, Castro passed a basket around to
the audience for offertory as expressed in the
song, surprisingly the audience responded to it
and dropped money into the basket which was
later showered on Sarkodie by a fan.
The final act from Nigeria was Davido who had his
song, Aye, sang back-to-back by a seemingly
worn-out crowd.
The concert came to an end with the final act,
Shatta Wale who was ushered onto the stage with
a very formidable security team made up of over
a dozen military personnel, private security men
in uniforms, personal bodyguards and a huge
entourage with four huge dangerous looking
guard dogs.
He performed his usual as his fans trooped to the
front to take photos at close range. He shouted:
“Free Bull Dog” in the middle of his performance
and asked the crowd to repeat after him in a
show of solidarity to his Manager, Bull Dog, who is
in Police custody as a suspect in the murder of
Fennec Okyere, another artistes manager killed
some weeks ago at his home.
This year’s Ghana meets Naija concert organised
by Empire Entertainment would go into the
history books as one of the best shows ever
organised in Ghana.

Ebo Whyte delivers another masterpiece in the ‘Games Men Play’

Another masterpiece has been cooked by the man
who clearly seems never to lack ideas.
James Ebo Whyte has for the past 13 years
cooked some of the most amazing productions at
the National Theatre and his latest work, ‘Games
Men Play’ is no exception.
The play, which showed for the first time at the
National Theatre Thursday night, is an excellent
craft. It is witty and superbly woven.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off in June in Brazil
and before the referee’s whistle blows for the first
kick of the prestigious tournament, Ebo Whyte
and his Rovernman Production team have already
taken a bit of the action.
But their showpiece is not nerve racking, there is
no heart breaks or disappointments. On the
contrary, one is assured of a perfect dose of
laughter and excitement as Uncle Ebo Whyte
dribbles his way into the hearts and minds of
patrons.
‘Games Men Play’ captures scenes from the senior
national team, the Black Stars’ hotel in Brazil.
Series of interesting tales unravels when the
coach is caught in an undesired, but not too
strange a web of an arrogant ‘Best’ player, a juju
man, a match fixer, a Ghana football boss, and a
very tempting journalist.
Ahead of the Black Stars match against the USA, a
juju man, whose praise names are: “The only
Nana with swag; the only Nana with the Better
Ghana Agenda; and the only Nana with spiritual
six-pack”, approaches the coach with an offer.
The juju man asks for $10,000 for the only goal in
the match, a deal the coach, Nana Badiako
rejected. As if that is not enough, a juicy offer
from a match fixer follows.
Just when he manages to run away from those
temptations, including a sexy female journalist
who was ready to give her all, the coach was
sacked a few hours to kick off.
‘Games Men Play’ is full of drama and
unadulterated comedy. The hundreds who
trooped to the National Theatre Thursday night
couldn’t have asked for more.
The play gave them the needed fun and
excitement. The intermittent laughter and
applause said it all.
Patrons who spoke to Myjoyonline.com after the
play thanked Ebo Whyte for “another
masterpiece” and that they wouldn’t hesitate to
watch it “again.”
‘Games Men Play’, plays at the National Theatre
on Saturday, May 24, Sunday, May 25, on
Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1. There
would be two showings at 4:00pm and 8:00pm
each day of those days.

Shatta Wale Opens Up: I like the way Samini performs

The two top dancehall artistes in Ghana, Samini
and Shatta Wale, for some time now have been
throwing jabs at each other calling themselves
names. Several songs have been released by
these dancehall acts using foul words to describe
the other.
If what Shatta Wale is saying is anything to go by,
then OMG!Ghana.com can confirm that the feud
between him and Samini has come to an end.
Shatta Wale who appeared as a guest on last
Saturday’s Diva’s Show on TV3, showered praises
on Samini for the energy he exhibits during his
performances. He again defended Samini’s
performance at the recently held Ghana Music
Awards accusing Charter House, organizers of the
event, of not allowing the ‘Linda’ hitmaker to
perform with his band.
“When you get shows like Ghana Music Awards,
promoters don’t allow you to perform with your
band. Samini came on stage and found out that
that wasn’t his band because if that was his
band, he was going to deliver so good. When I
watch him with his own band, I like the way he
performs.”
He advised that promoters need to take artistes’
requests into consideration when they are master
planning for their events to help the artiste give
off his best during the show.
When Nana Aba Anamoah, host of the show
queried him on when he is collaborating with
Samini, the ‘Dancehall King’ hitmaker said ‘we will
be working on it don’t worry. I want it to be a
surprise”
He added that, “I’m an artiste and I need to work
with all the great artistes in Ghana. I like him you
know”
He revealed that he has recorded a track with
Sarkodie which will be released soon.
Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Guru, Castro and Lil Win
will lead Ghana to face Davido, Kcee, Wizboyy and
Selobobo from Nigeria on Saturday, May 24th at
the Accra International Conference Center for the
fourth edition of Ghana meets Naija concert.

Bulldog feeds cellmates

BulldogggIt is said that sometimes one’s predicaments serve as blessing to others, and this was the case when CEO of Bull Hause Entertainment, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson aka Bulldog made his cell mates enjoy food items that were sent to him by family and friends.

Bull Dog had been the toast of his cell mates as he passes on almost all his food brought to him from family, friends and loved ones.

When Flex newspaper paid a visit to him at the Cantonment Police Station, he had turned the cells into a party ground as other cellmates enjoyed the food passed on to them by Bulldog who had little attention for food but his friends who were around.

Bulldog, who is the manager of controversial dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, was arrested at Kokomlemle on Thursday 15th May, 2014 over the death of the late Fennec Okyere who was stabbed in his Manet Garden home not long ago by unknown assailants.

Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service in pursuit of the murderers came arrested Bulldog as suspect.

Fennec had sleepless nights over his marriage with Amakie - Ursula Owusu

Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Ursula
Owusu Ekuful, has revealed that the murdered
artiste manager, Fennec Okyere had sleepless
nights over his marriage with Amakie.
Ursula, a foster mother to Fennec, has also
promised to love and care for his only child and
said she tried in vain to teach the deceased to
love with his head and not his heart but the
young man could simply not learn to do that.
“I grieve and mourn too because I know how
much you were hurt and the sleepless nights you
had because of the way your marriage turned out
…Two months after you got married, your wife
left the matrimonial home and never returned.
You shed countless tears, pleaded, begged and
cajoled her to return to no avail. I say this with a
lot of pain for I know how it hurt you,” Ursula
noted: “You just loved her as Christ loved the
church, wept and all, but it wasn’t reciprocated.
We kept telling you to move on, but you wouldn’t,
you couldn’t and kept hoping. I know you are at
peace now and no one can hurt you again. SE
ASA! I promise to love and care for your son.”
Ursula’s accusations against Fennec’s wife were
part of her tribute to him during his burial service
last Saturday. It is already public knowledge that
Fennec’s wife, Amakie, was prevented from
attending and taking part in the funeral of her
late husband.
The widow has announced that she would be
organizing yet another funeral service for her
husband, tomorrow Saturday, May 3, although his
corpse was buried on Saturday, April 26.
Amakie has also revealed she does not know
where her late husband was buried and did not
even set eyes on his corpse because his family
prevented her from partaking in the burial,
memorial and thanksgiving service of her late
husband.
Amakie and Fennec have a young son and were
not divorced prior to his death.

Reggie Rockstone says he is happy and proud for Efya, Sarkodie & Fuse ODG

The Grandpapa of Hiplife Reginald Osei popularly
known as Reggie Rockstone says he does not mind
people offering them constructive criticisms for
their work but, they will not accept criticisms just
for the sake of criticizing.
He said this in an interview with Melvina
Frimpong Manso host of Showbiz 971 on Suncity
Radio 97.1 over the weekend, when he was asked
what the VVIP makes of sound engineer Roro’s
assertion that, the tones for the song were
misrepresented and carelessly used which makes
the final work noisy.
Rockstone said if Roro had shared his thoughts on
the song with them, it would have been okay
rather than jumping to the media. “I brought this
game to Ghana and named it Hiplife, and that
has given guys like Roro a job, so I know what I’m
doing” The CEO of the Django Bar asked, “when
was the last time you heard about him?
He has produced about 4 singles for Promzy a
former member of V.I.P ever since he left the
group, where are the songs? Have you heard the
songs? He alleged that he suspects foul play.
“Ever since “Selfie” was released about 15 days
goes, it is trending worldwide on Twitter he
added.”
Reggie Rockstone the latest addition to VVIP said
the song will be remixed soon with some of the
greatest music acts the world has ever produced
the likes of WYCLEF JEAN, BEENIEMAN, FUSE ODG,
and some Nigerian acts.
Being a very proud Grandpapa, Reggie was quick
to say how happy he was for Efya, Sarkodie and
Fuse ODG to be nominated for the World Music
Awards and the fact that, Efya is billed to perform
on the big stage and sees it as a great
endorsement for the music scene in Ghana.

I have never thought of quitting school - Maame Serwaa

Despite the good money the child actor is making
in movies, Clara Amoateng Benson, aka Maame
Serwaa, says she will never allow acting to
interfere with her schooling.
“I have heard people say I will not have time for
school because I am making money. Money is
good but it cannot be as good as my education.
Even though I can earn up to Ghc 2,500 a movie,
I have never thought of quitting school", the 15
year-old said.
“I have told movie producers who ask for my
services that when I am in school, I won’t have
time for them and they respect my decision”
Maame Serwaa told Showbiz in an interview last
Monday.
Explaining why she would choose school over
acting, Maame Serwaa said acting is seasonal and
that producers can decide not to use you
anymore but if she takes her schooling seriously,
she will be in a good position to land a job any
time.
Responding to a question whether she could
speak English as well as she speaks Twi in her
movies, Maame Serwaa said she was fluent in
English and that she was one of the brilliant girls
in her class.
“I wish I could try one of the English language
movies to prove to everyone how good I am.
So far, she has featured in ‘Me Ba’, ‘School Girl’,
‘Sekiha’, ‘Tumi’, ‘Ntaafo) Tumi’ and ‘Otan Ne
Bayie’.
Maame Serwaa told Showbiz that she is often
saddened when she hears people say that
because of the roles she plays, she involves
herself in “mpaninsem” and therefore she is
disrespectful.
According to her, she hears such comments often
and though she has been able to convince some
people she is not disrespectful, many are those
who believe she is.
“I don’t know why anyone should say I am
disrespectful. Ever since I started acting at age 6,
never have I insulted or spoken to anyone
rudely”.
Asked what she intended to do with the money
she earned, Maame Serwaa said her mother and
her manager would invest for her.

'We pray to the risen Jesus' - Bono reveals

He is known for his forthright views.
But while U2's Bono can command the attention of world leaders, the Nobel Peace Prize winner has revealed he gets his inner strength from Jesus.
The singer-humanitarian, who has been seen attending Presbyterian services, says he and his family pray to 'the risen Jesus' on an outsized family bed.
Opening up about his religious views, the singer, 53, revealed that he and wife Ali Hewson, and four children Eve, Jordan, Elijah and John Hewson, hold impromptu prayer sessions in honour of sick members of the family and those generally struggling in life.
In an interview with Ireland's RTE One, the rock star said: 'I pray to get to know the will of God, because then the prayers have more chance of coming true, I mean, that’s the thing about prayer,' Bono told interviewer Gay Byrne.
He added: 'We don't do it in a very lofty way in our family. It’s just a bunch of us on the bed, usually, we’ve a very big bed in our house. We pray with all our kids, we read the Scriptures, we pray.'
When asked who he prays to and for what, Bono replied: 'The risen Jesus.'
He said: '[Jesus] went around saying he was the Messiah. That’s why he was crucified. He was crucified because he said he was the Son of God.
'So, he either, in my view, was the Son of God or he was nuts... And I find it hard to accept that whole millions and millions of lives, half the Earth, for 2,000 years have been touched, have felt their lives touched and inspired by some nutter. I just, I don’t believe it.'

Famous father: U2 front man Bono, with wife Ali (L) and daughters Eve and Jordan (far right)
Aside from his prolific music career, Bono is an avid philanthropist and social entrepreneur.
In 2002 he co-founded DATA, an AIDS and poverty awareness organization that would go on to create ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History.

I’d rather be miserable than be in a relationship — Yvonne Okoro

Voluptuous beauty, half-Nigerian, half-Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Okoro, isn’t exactly the kind of damsel you would think is in distress.
She has nothing on her to cut that image and it doesn’t appear her career is in danger either. If the beautifully endowed sexy actress should come under any observation, I guess the lots would be in her favour as she seems to be doing better than ever, career wise.
But her post on the Instagram last week placed a huge question mark on the state of mind of the actress. The declaration “ I would rather be lonely and miserable than be in a relationship” wouldn’t pass for any woman who is fulfilled as a woman, even though the career is on the up and up.
It wasn’t until further checks were run on what could have brought about that rather gloomy assertion that the whole scenario began to make sense. It turned out Yvonne’s post was an extract from a previous interview the talented actress granted on relationships.
“If you give me all the attention and make me laugh I think that’s it. I am not in a relationship, not because I don’t want to. Let me correct that, because you go somewhere and people say `oh, I am happy with just my job’ but the truth is nobody is happy being single. Again you hear  `I don’t want to get married now’ I think it’s a lie
.1415827103528_8371311023262
“In my opinion, it’s because your master hasn’t come yet. My mother always says that once your master comes you don’t need anyone to tell you to go, you’ll go. I haven’t had my master yet but the truth of the matter is, because of what I do, I meet people.
“However, it’s so difficult for me to meet single people, it’s so difficult as well to trust people and that is the problem. At a point, you realize that they treated you like a trophy and showed you off because you are on television. The ideal relationship for me would be to hang out with my boyfriend and his friends, who won’t even care that I am an actress.
“At this age, I don’t see the point of dating someone and knowing deep down that it’s not going to go far. I would rather be lonely and miserable than be in a relationship and be happy for a short while; then walk away because I realized this is not the kind of man I want to be with.
I’d rather stay put until my master comes. But what if my master comes at a time I am with somebody, then what, I have to bounce him”.
Going by her post last Wednesday, it does appear, the actress hasn’t found her master yet and this must have bothered her enough to reach out and tell the world she is still single, willing and very much available.

INTERVIEWS: Guru opens up on his rise after “Kasiebo”

Musician, GURU, who was born Nana Yaw Adjei Yeboah Maradona, talks to enewsgh.com in an exclusive interview on career; about making Obrafuor’s controversial single “Kasiebo”, and his ‘Boys Abre’ album.
He also reacts to accusations of him hijacking songs.
You’ve been nominated in seven categories at this year’s GMAs. It’s coming after a long push. Looking back, how easy was the journey?
It never came cheap; right from day one when I stepped into the real game people attacked my brand and approach to music. And it was Obrafuor who believed and introduced me to this industry officially with the “Kasiebo” song, and I was glad I did that song because that was the whole idea of the Guru brand, I wanted to be outspoken and be far away from the trends and norm, and that song captured all of that and I have never looked.
Talking about “Kasiebo”; how did that song happen?
I was called to meet Obrafuor after I met Jam Master Jay. Obrafuor was recording his Asem Beba Dabi album and he was looking to project many underground musicians of that time with that album.
18433423So many artists had laid their verses on several songs that were all building towards the release and the decision on which song to be released first was not yet realized. I was made to understand the album was done and “Kasiebo” wasn’t supposed to be part of the album, it was to help me get into the game.
Obrafuor and JMJ gave me the beat and said I should try and put my best flow on it and bring it back, on my way home, I was riding the trotro from Dansoman where JMJ has his studio to Darkuman when I heard Agya Brefa on Peace FM doing the introduction to read the news at 6pm on radio and the idea hit me right there in the lorry and that’s the line I toed.
I wrote my verses with a conversation in mind and when I met Obrafuor and he heard the whole concept he just jumped on the song and it sounded amazing, I didn’t know how he was able to get himself into the song that flawless but it was things like that that proved to many of us his talent was on a whole new level.
They didn’t tell me what to do when I got the beat, so I was briefing him (Obrafuor) about what was happening in the game while he was gone and asking him about his opinions about certain issues and he responded without even asking questions about them as to why I chose to talk about those particular issues, he told me to let my imagination run wild and true to his words when I returned the record, he didn’t question it, he played along and many still never believe Obrafuor allowed me to control the song creatively.
So I followed up with the “Democracy” record to let people know, what happened on “Kasiebo” was all me. And we won collaboration of the year for “Kasiebo” with no official single out for me.
What goes into deciding which next song you are going to work on?
I make songs having the target I want to hit in mind, “Nkwadaa Nkwadaa” was for the kids, Mmakuo for the adults, “Lapaz Toyota” for the lovers, “Boys Abre” for all those going through whatever hardship. I only want to share my ideas, opinions and view of whatever it is about this life that influences a large group, how you decide to relate to the songs is your own to decide.
I put just a little of my experiences in my song and even most of it, I won’t talk about the glorious aspect, I will share the downside because already you are famous and people expect things to be a bit easier for you, telling them in every song life is good for you is not fair, let them know you are human and go through hard times too.
Your current album ‘Boys Abre’ is responsible for all seven nominations. Why Boys Abre?
I chose Boys Abre because in reality things were hard and there was a lot of tension in the country because of the court case and as time went on you could sense the fear and fatigue on every Ghanaian you met.
We had run out of energy and couldn’t dance and sing faster like we were already doing. And we put Lil Win on the record and Ghanaians got it and were cheered back to happiness.
Lapaz Toyota, Nkwadaa Nkwadaa, now Boys Abre and you don’t have a single Ghanaian award; do you feel underrated?
I don’t feel that way, I just feel they are challenging me to do more, and many at times I just think I don’t concentrate on what the industry’s reaction is when I am creating my music, all I think about is the audience and the audience only. Yes, at some point you need the industry to endorse you for you to do certain things but the biggest award is releasing a song and getting massive positive response. Who knows may be my best is not enough for them.
Any time you release a song and it hits, some persons later lay claim to it being theirs. How do you handle that?
In every field you should expect propaganda; people find it difficult to accept change or your impact. So people find ways to attack the brand and artist. Competition is using ways and means to get your brand down and those coming up also want to climb on the back of your brand to gain some attention, I didn’t use those tactics and I just think people should work hard on their talent instead of trying to cut corners. I work hard for my hit songs and expect everyone to do that.
I’m addicted to making hits, the struggle to make a single hit song is huge and we try and put in work and replicate the same procedures as we find new ways and avenues to make those viral songs. “Lapaz Toyota” contributed a lot to the Azonto era and when the trend was moving to the Akayida where the kicks were slow, “Boys Abre” stood out because we captured it better in terms of audio and visually with Lil Win.
What’s next for you?
Now I just look towards the music bodies that matter to endorse the brand so we can take the brand out there with confidence knowing the audience and the music stakeholders have endorsed the brand.
I just want everyone to know we have worked tirelessly and hard enough to get the recognition and they should endorse those who deserve the endorsements. It never came cheap, running up to the awards, I had five hit songs back to back. It’s very painful if you look at the amount of work you have put in and then when it’s time to award the hardworking ones, the award goes elsewhere.

I'm Not Ready For Marriage - Ice Prince

According to Myjoyonline.com, Panshak Zamani, popularly  known by fans as Ice Prince is a Nigerian hip-hop recording artiste best known for winning the 2009 Hennessy Artistry for his song “Oleku”.
The music crooner hit the limelight with his party banger ‘Oleku’ after which he released several other rave tracks in his debut album, ‘Everybody Loves Ice Prince.’His second album, ‘Fire of Zamania’ which was unveiled in November 2013, has also been applauded by music lovers and critics alike, in the music industry. The singer ran into one of our reporters at an event recently, and an interesting chat ensued. Excerpts:
What are you doing presently?

I just dropped my new album ‘Fire of Zamania’, its on the street right now, I am also up to  recording a video for the album. I’m about doing my tour of UK and around Africa and I have new artistes I’m trying to promote as well.
How has life been treating you generally?

I just thank God for my life because I don’t see obstacles as challenges the way other people see them, I only see them as stepping stones for me.
Life before fame?

Actually, I have seen life in different forms because I wasn’t born poor and I wasn’t born rich. I lost my Dad in 1999 and then things became different and my mum also passed away in 2011. So life  has not been easy. I could remember back then, I was sent out of school because of school fees but today I thank God for who I am and where I am.
Has music always been your dream?

Yes, but when I was young I have always wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer and a soldier. But music for me, started when I went to secondary school in the late 90s. I started performing at social events, at school and I would mimic 2Pac and B.I.G songs, and that’s when I fell in love with rap. A few years later, I joined the choir in my church  and groomed myself as a musician.
But will you ever go for your dream profession?

No, I don’t see any need for it, they were mere childhood fantasies. And even if I want to follow the dream, I don’t think I have what it takes to chase those dreams any more. So if you ask me, I think I am a musician,  it is my call and it is God who designed me for music.
We learnt you were one of the artistes featured on the Nigerian cipher for the BET Hip-Hop Awards last year. How did you manage that?

It just happened one day, I got an email a day before the recording. I actually wasn’t meant to be part of it. It was meant to be Sauce Kid, Naeto C, M.I and Mode 9, but I think Sauce Kid was having problems with his flight from LA to Nigeria a day before filming and they thought he wasn’t going to make it, so they replaced him with me.
But then Sauce Kid made his flight and it was too late to bounce me, so they put all of us together and we went to the studio and recorded. Out of everyone who was on it, I was the youngest. I felt really honoured to be on the BET cipher, it was a good platform to be on and I felt blessed.
What can you say about your record label, Chocolate City , because you’ve been there for a long time?

Chocolate City is one big family, where we make music and promote music as well. I think presently, there is one in Kenya with this one in Nigeria. Chocolate City has been existing since 2007  and I am proud to be signed to the record label.
Why are you still single?

I don’t think I am planning to get married now because am still young, I’m in my youth  and moreover, I am just 27 years old. Maybe later in my late thirties I can start planing to get married  or not.
But what are your reasons?

It’s because I still have a long way to go before thinking of settling down. I can’t say because of what I have, that I am okay to get  married,  no. I don’t think I am mentally ready for marriage.  I think before one could get married, one needs to attain certain level of understanding and awareness. I don’t think I have those qualities just yet.
But are you in any serious relationship, and any plan of  settling down with your baby mama?

Yeah , but I wouldn’t want to talk about my girlfriend and about the mother of my baby. She is good and we are not talking about getting married because I’m not ready yet.
How did ‘Oleku’ come about and were you surprised about the storm it has created?

‘Oleku’ was one of those songs that came during one of my recording sessions. I came up with the chorus first, later I featured Brymo in it and we did it together.  I don’t really have a good singing voice. Jesse Jagz produced that track also. So, we finished the song and then I sent it to my record label and they weren’t really excited about it enough to put it out.
They wanted us to touch up the song some more , but I was persistent and wanted to put the song out as soon as possible. They eventually got tired of my stubbornness and they were like,  Just put the song out on the Internet and see how it goes. I was really surprised because I didn’t expect it to go this far. Like, I didn’t expect it to reach Tim Westwood. That’s really big  and from that one song, I have performed all over the world.
Why do you think they’re taking more notice of artistes like yourself  on radio stations like BBC 1Xtra ?
I think it’s my time. Well, that’s what I tell everybody. I think it’s time for Afro-beats and African music to get in. Like I always say, ‘UK music and American music have been everywhere.’ Jamaican music is big all over the world right now and I think it is time for Afro-beats as well. We have good music, we have good sound and we have something special to offer the world. I think it’s time for the world to listen.
How true is the rumour that Unity Bank has cancelled your endorsement deal ?
That is not true, they never cancelled the deal, even Unity Bank put out a press statement to that effect and  presently they are still working on it. What you saw online then was mere  rumour.
How would you describe a typical day in the life of Ice Prince?
A typical day for Ice Prince would be to wake up, shower and, if I’m not performing that day, I  head straight up to the studio. I have a studio in my house. I go to the studio and listen to music that I made the day before and I just try to create new stuff. After that, I reply to my emails, get on Twitter to talk to a few girls and then return to the studio. If I have a visitor, I go and chill with them and then I jump straight back to the studio.

I don't wear panties - Baby Blanche

Female celebrities all over the world, because of
the nature of their jobs and their status in society
have an exotic and often highly developed sense
of fashion and sexy actress Baby Blanche is no
different.
Due to the kind of clothes she likes to wear and is
comfortable in, Baby Blanche has revealed in an
interview with Showbiz that she hardly wears
panties when she’s going out.
“I love all kinds of lingerie that make a woman
feminine because I’m a woman, but I hardly wear
panties. This is not because I don’t want to wear
them but because the clothes I love to wear
wouldn’t permit me to,” she told Showbiz.
“I try as much as possible to act as a lady and not
to let my panty lines show just because I like to
wear dresses that hug my figure. So if I wear
clothes and the outline of my panty is glaring like
that I don’t like it,” she explained.
“Being a lady is not only about wearing make-up
and Brazilian hair but also comprises the
propriety of whatever you’re wearing,” says Baby
Blanche.
Baby Blanche says she does not worry much
about thoughts that she may be sexually attacked
by unscrupulous men because she makes sure she
doesn’t go to awkward places at awkward times.
“I wouldn’t ever put myself at risk by finding
myself at an awkward place at an awkward time.”
Talking about her the progress of movie career,
the actress says she refuses to be type-cast any
longer in so-called ‘sexy’ roles as had happened
in the past, she now chooses roles that are
challenging because as an actress she believes she
should be able to play different roles.
“When I first get a script, I read it and think
about it. Do I really want to do this job? Is the
story catchy enough? I just don’t say because I’m
an actress I accept just any script. I read a script
and if I’m interested, I give it a shot. I want to be
challenged this time around so I want daring
scripts that would have more challenging roles,”
she explained.
Having been out of the limelight for some time
now she says she is back with a vengeance.
“I’ve been away from movie sets for a while due
to personal reasons. But I’ve sat down and
decided that this is where I belong and this is my
passion. My family and my fans let me know that
this is my talent and since then, I’ve done three
movies so they should watch out. I’m coming back
soon, better and rebranded.”
Baby Blanche was discovered by Socrates Safo of
Movie Africa Productions and started acting about
four years ago. She has appeared in several
movies helmed by the famed producer/director,
including Hot Fork, Adults Only, What S*x Can Do,
among others.
She assures her fans of nothing but the best from
her in subsequent movies. “I can assure my fans
that anytime they see me in a movie it will be
something they will really want to sit back and
watch. I’m going to surprise a lot of people who
do not know the depth of my talent,” Baby
Blanche says.
“I thank my fans for the support and the
encouragement I’ve been getting on social media,
like Facebook and Instagram. Had it not been
them, there would be no point in me being out
there. I thank them and everybody who wants me
to come back. And I thank my enemies because
they give me the urge to strive and give off my
best,” she added.
The sexy actress says the parts of her body she
feels most comfortable flaunting on any day are
her flat tummy and her legs. She says she does it
only to ‘tease a little’.

Reggie Rockstone: I have humbled myself to join VIP, now VVIP

When Reggie Rockstone announced a couple of
months ago that he was joining VIP, many were
those who thought it was a joke because they
could not believe that the Grandpapa of Hiplife
would do a thing like that.
Showbiz can confirm today that indeed, Reggie is
a member of VIP. Last Monday he told Showbiz
that the trio will now be known as VVIP.
“It all began when I posted on Twitter that I was
joining VIP. That simple message drew a lot of
attention but the truth is that I have always
wanted to be a member of VIP.
When Promzy left I told myself that VIP has to
continue in order not to slow down the vision. I
said to myself, I’m not bad looking and I can still
rap so why not join my younger brothers to keep
the vision in progress?”
Most importantly, Reggie added, “It is God’s work;
it has nothing to do with Promzy’s leaving. It
happened after many discussions but the truth is,
it was all by divine intervention.”
As to people’s perception that he is too old or too
big to come to the level of VIP, Reggie said that
was neither here nor there because people still
rap and sing regardless of their age, mentioning
Jay Z as an example.
“No matter how old I am, I can still be a member
of VIP, the merger is historical. Regardless of my
age, I have humbled myself to join my younger
brothers, it has not happened before and that is
why I call it historical.”
Asked if he was going to be the leader of VVIP,
Reggie said, “Originally, I think Lazzy (now called
Zeal) was the leader but the chemistry of working
together is so tight that there is no leader but my
age and experience in African terms makes it
easier for them to listen to me.
“There has always been mutual respect even
before I joined the group and I must admit that
they are both respectful.”
Reggie revealed that their first single, Selfie will
be released tomorrow Friday which happens to be
his birthday. “Today is Efya’s birthday and
tomorrow is my birthday so there is going to be a
big party at Rockstone’s Office, Django Bar to
celebrate our birthdays.
According to Reggie, the party is open to all, “You
just pay to get in and be part of the party,
proceeds will go to charity, and it will be so much
fun no one would want to miss it, please dress
well.”
Throwing more light on Selfie, Reggie said it is a
very danceable song and everyone will love it.
“Another single will follow soon but I will keep the
title of that one a secret for now,” he said.
“It was produced by DJ Breezy who comes from
D-Black’s camp. “We are on a mature level now,
call it senior citizens,” he said with a smile.
Incidentally all three VVIP have had baby girls
within the last one year. Lazzy’s (now Zeal) is Jara;
Prodigal’s is Nana; and Reggie’s is Rehji.
