After releasing songs like Adedede, Cash and Carry and She Dey Be in 2007, not much was heard of Abubakar Saddique Khalifa aka Old Sodja.
But late last year, the “prodigal son” released a new song; Don’t Mind Them which featured Shatta Wale. The song, he said was to announce his comeback after taking a six year break.
He has released a new single, Esi, produced by Sky Face in Obuasi.
Though he is known for hiplife songs, Esi is a highlife song which talks
about how women have to brace themselves when faced with financial
difficulties.
Pulling a verse from Abrekyieba Kofi Sammy’s Money Palava to drive home his point, Old Sodja sings Yellow Sisi dey for corner, put hand for jaw wey tin dey cause am, money palava.
He advises ladies who are going through difficult times to stay focus
and remember life situations are dynamic and not static; hence they
“should hope for the best in future when faced with challenges”.
He told Showbiz that he went off the music scene to reshape his career and is back to “feed music lovers with good stuff.
“I have been very busy in the studio but I thank God two of the many singles are out and already receiving airplay.
“I am grateful to my managers, DJ Amess and Cabon 4 for still believing in me and giving me the necessary push,” he said
