Akablay, EL, others to rock Alliance Francaise

Ace guitarist Akablay and his Abiza Band alongside
Zohzoh Band will on Friday, July 18 rock the
Alliance Française in Accra with a concert dubbed
‘Kundum Highlife Meets Afrobeat’.
Noted for a brand of highlife known as ‘Kundum
Highlife’, Abiza Band has in recent years
mesmerised fans in several towns and cities in
Denmark with magnetic performances.
Formed in 2005, Abiza Band has carved a niche
for itself through authentic Ghanaian highlife,
which is the result of a subtle expropriation of the
elements of traditional rhythms from the Western
Region, which has been described by critics as
‘Kundum Highlife’.
Led by Yaw Boateng, Zohzoh Band is expected to
thrill the audience with a cool blend of highlife
and Afrobeat alongside influences from late Fela
Kuti, Miles Davies, Peter Tosh, James Brown and
ET Mensah.
On Saturday, July 19, the Alliance Française would
equally go gay with another performance by
rapper and singer EL.
This young and talented music icon is a multi-
talented artiste with a multi-national fan base
from Ghana and beyond.
He is working tirelessly to promote and improve
the quality of Ghanaian music on the
international market.
A natural performer with good stagecraft, anytime
E.L grabs the microphone on stage; music fans
see him as a real music icon whose presence
would boost the image of Ghanaian music on the
international music market.
He is expected to surprise the audience with a
blend of different varieties of music inspired from
various sources.
E.L has appeared on many musical concerts held
in the country and performed with music stars
like Sarkodie, J. Martins, 9ice, Fabulous and Rick
Ross.
Arguably one of the biggest producers cum
rappers, he has lent his blend of hip-hop/afro
beat sounds and voice to major hits for the likes
of Sarkodie’s ‘You Go Kill Me’, ‘Dangerous’, D-
Black’s ‘Get On The Dance Floor’, Reggie
Rockstone’s ‘Rockstone’s Office’, Asem’s ‘Check
Your Weight’ and many more.
Also on the bill are Joey B, M.anifest, Ko-jo Cue,
Sarkodie, Lil Shaker, Edem, Stargo, C Real, Dex
Kwesi, Gemini, PK and many more.
Both concerts are being supported by Institut
Français (Ghana) Alliance Française (Accra), French
Embassy, Ashfoam, Novotel Hotel, Canal+,
CANALSAT, Yoyo and others.
